Let's explore your functional movement patterns! I am a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher NCPT®,(PMA-CPT®), YUR BACK Licensed Instructor, Franklin Method® Educator and Fascia Trainer for the Lower Back, an IBBFA Certified Barre Instructor, and a Pospartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES) My Pilates journey began with a 10 month comprehensive apparatus apprenticeship. My aha moment happened there! Learning the foundations of movement and Pilates principles opened a whole new perspective for me. Pilates puts an emphasis on the muscles that support and surround your spine as well as your joint systems. The work is not just connecting to your body, but also learning how to fire the correct muscles when needed. I work with all populations and skill levels to increase strength, flexibility, coordination, and spinal mobility. I believe Pilates can benefit anyone looking to build overall strength, improve balance, increase flexibility and work on imbalances. My training in Comprehensive Apparatus began with an 10 month apprenticeship at Pilates Chicago. Following a move, I completed my 500 hour comprehensive certification with Balanced Body. In 2014, I formed Equipoise Pilates LLC, while continuing to teach in Northeast Ohio. In 2016, I became a YUR BACK Licensed Instructor specializing in helping clients with specific spinal conditions, and creating safe exercise programs for them. In 2017 I became an accredited member of the Pilates Method Alliance; the only professional association in the industry. PMA has rebranded in 2019 to become the National Pilates Certification Program. I serve on the Advocacy and Education Comittees. I have also broadened my scope as a movement specialist by becoming an IBBFA Certified Barre Instructor. Barre is a great compliment to Pilates with shared movement patterns and principles. Imagery and Fascia are also involved! Which drew me to The Franklin Method and Fascia Training. Eric Franklin's renowned method uses Dynamic Neuro-Cognitive Imagery™ in all its applications to change your body schema. The Lower Back training focuses on the Throcalumbar Fascia. By manipulating your fascia you can change the geometry of your muscles. We do this by learning 3-dimensional movements that stretch and oil the Lower Back. Completing this certifaction spurred me to delve deeper into the Franklin Method. In October 2021 I recieved my Level 1 Franklin Educator certification (130 hrs). Using DNI with osteokinematics to improve the way we embody movement and the way we embody function. Another area of expertise I have gained is a license as a Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (10 months). This designation gives a greater understanding into breath and infrasternal structural work. A large focus of PCES is sudden urinary incontinence, pelvic prolapse, and pelvic floor health.
